Intercultural Training

Jun 17th, 2009 by Ad Blankestijn

Hire a professional! – Practical courses for a smooth life and work in Japan.

For several years already, Ad Blankestijn has been working as facilitator with Japan Intercultural Consulting, an international training and consulting firm focused on Japanese business. In that capacity he gives intercultural trainings to Japanese businessmen about to be stationed abroad and also to expats who have just been stationed in Japan. He also has regular experience training local staff of Japanese subsidiaries abroad in how to work smoothly with their Japanese colleagues.

In addition, as an independent consultant, Ad is available for the following two training programs:

  • An introduction to living in Japan, both general customs and etiquette, do’s and dont’s, and how to find your way around, either in Tokyo or the Kansai (Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto). The contents of this course are very practical. Length is 3 hours. Cost: 15,000 yen for individuals; 20,000 for two persons; 30,000 yen for groups of three to five persons. Plus travel and accommodation costs, if any. A PowerPoint presentation will be used. This program is suitable for expats (businessmen, diplomats, etc.) and also for their families.
  • A higher level course about Japanese business customs linked to cultural characteristics as hierarchy, groupism, uncertainty avoidance etc. Length is 4 hours. Cost: 30,000 yen for individuals and groups up to 5 persons, 40,000 for larger groups (maximum is 10 persons). Plus travel and accommodation costs, if any. A PowerPoint presentation will be used. This program is suitable for expats (businessmen etc.).

Ad lives in the Kansai (Kobe) but is also available elsewhere in Japan such as Tokyo for these trainings.
