I'm a fan of Moyashimon, it deserves more readers & viewers.

I also reccomend "Natsuko no Sake", a manga by Oze Akira about Natsuko, a young lady who is determined to learn how to make rice wine the old fashioned way. It has a lot of lessons about the hardships of organic rice farming, as Natsuko wants to avoid chemicals that may influence the taste.
